Who: Mark Threlfall
What: Ex-Professional Triathlete / GTN Presenter
Distance: Olympic and Middle Distance
Lives: Bath, UK
I started sporting life in the pool, competing nationally as a swimmer from the age of 11. After years of being roped in to school running races, I started to give cycling a go….then before I knew it, I was putting all three together and doing triathlon. It was around 2006 that I was selected on to the World Class Programme for Great Britain and over the years competed at a number of World and European Champs.
In 2007 I head to Loughborough University to study Industrial Design & Technology alongside triathlon. Whilst competing over the ITU and shorter distances I picked up a Silver at the European Junior Duathlon Champs, and a Bronze at the World U23 Cross Triathlon Champs.
I moved up to Middle Distance as I graduated from University, and hit the podium at Ironman 70.3 UK in my first year as a Professional, then this year, broke the course record at the Outlaw Half Triathlon by 15 minutes.
Now I have joined the Global Triathlon Network as a presenter. I’ve always enjoyed sharing my knowledge and passion for triathlon…alongside the many rookie mistakes I’ve made over the years, so hopefully you don’t have to make the same mistakes that I did!
